Biography


Charlie Foran was born and raised in Toronto. He holds degrees from the University of Toronto and the University College, Dublin, and has taught at universities in China, Hong Kong, and Canada. He has published nine books, including four novels, and writes regularly for magazines and newspapers in Canada and elsewhere. He is a contributing reviewer for The Globe and Mail. He has won awards for his work. You can learn more about his books on this website and read samples of his recent journalism and uncollected fiction. Charlie Foran has also made radio documentaries for the CBC program Ideas on subjects ranging from Hong Kong cinema to contemporary Indian writing. He lives in Peterborough, Ontario, with his family.
